At Holy Nativity School, students have a wealth of opportunities to participate in special activities and events that will enhance their creative, cultural, and spiritual experiences. In addition to the following highlighted events, students also participate in our Book Buddies program, the Holy Nativity School Choir, service learning projects, activity days, intramural sports, and Fellowship Day. These are times of great school spirit that strengthen our bonds and our sense of community.
O’ahu’s abundant cultural events and historic sites are utilized for school excursions. Among the favorite places our students visit are the Bishop Museum, Honolulu Zoo, the Aquarium, ‘Iolani Palace, Ho’omaluhia, the Honolulu Symphony, Honolulu Theatre for Youth and the Honolulu Academy of the Arts. ‘Aina Haina Public Library is adjacent to our school and provides excellent resources and research materials for our students.
- Class Trips
Our older students look forward to their annual class trips, which are a culmination of their curriculum studies. The class trips have included fourth graders exploring the volcanoes on the Big Island, fifth graders traveling to the mainland. The sixth grade’s Arizona trip has been an enriching experience for so many of our graduates as they learn about the Native American culture, while sharing the culture and spirit of our Hawaii.
- Christmas Program
The entire school joins together to celebrate the Christmas season, a very special time for a school names after the Nativity. Each class performs a traditional Christmas song and the sixth grade class depicts the nativity scene at our annual program.
- May Day Program
Our Lei Day program has been a rich tradition at Holy Nativity for over sixty years. Each class studies Hawaiian through their music classes as they prepare to present ancient hula and song at this spectacular annual festivity.
